Power For Good

January 29, 2026

You see us at local schools, grocery stores, community events and high in a bucket truck providing you with the foundation for our everyday life – electricity. While we keep power flowing to homes and businesses, we also play an active role in the communities where we live and work.

In 2025, Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) employees volunteered for more than 4,100 hours and provided grants to 137 local organizations in our Indiana and Michigan communities.

“Volunteering and providing funding to local organizations isn’t about just showing up. It’s being there when our communities need us,” said Brian Bergsma, Director of External and Governmental Affairs. “We are supportive of the organizations and causes to help our communities that our employees are passionate about. Together we make a difference every day.”

Our employees filled backpacks for local school children, raked leaves for those who aren’t physically able and partnered with the United Way in multiple areas to provide essential resources. Several employees also dedicate their own time to serve similar community initiatives as volunteers, board members or committee members.

You can read more about our support and volunteerism in these stories below and on our community page.
