Remember when you were a child with a new pair of shoes and how excited you were to show them off? That’s the exact feeling more than 500 Spencer County, Ind. children received thanks to several organizations including I&M and its Rockport Plant employees.
In partnership with the Indiana Michigan Power Foundation, Rally Point Events presented a grant to the Kicks for Kids Program which provides children with properly fitting new shoes so they can focus on learning. Through the grant, children from six Spencer County elementary schools were given a new pair of shoes.
“There’s truly nothing better for the soul than serving others,” said Alexa Roskowski, I&M External Affairs Manager who was born and raised in Spencer County. “The excitement and joy on those children’s faces is something I’ll never forget. It’s an honor to work for a company so committed to supporting communities in a meaningful way.”
For more than 40 years, Rockport Plant and its employees have been a vital part of the community, especially through volunteering and giving. To learn more about I&M’s community efforts, click here.
