Distribution System Plan

Michigan

Every three years, Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) develops and submits a Distribution System Plan (DSP) to the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC). The plan outlines how I&M expects to maintain, enhance, and invest in its electric distribution system over the next five years, while also providing a longer-term outlook of anticipated investments and system needs over the next 10 to 15 years.

The DSP is designed to provide transparency into I&M's planning process and the investments needed to continue delivering safe, reliable, and affordable electric service. It serves as a roadmap for evaluating future system improvements that support reliability, resiliency, customer affordability, and emerging technologies that strengthen the electric grid.

As we prepare our next Distribution System Plan, we welcome input from our customers, communities, local governments, businesses, and other interested stakeholders. Your feedback helps us better understand the needs and priorities of the people and communities we serve and informs our planning for the future. We encourage you to review the information provided and share your perspectives as we develop a plan that supports Michigan's energy future.

We Want to Hear From You

I&M values stakeholder engagement and encourages interested parties to participate in the DSP development process. Together, we can help ensure that future investments in the distribution system continue to support safe, reliable, and affordable electric service for our customers and communities.
