Neighbor to Neighbor Program - Indiana

The I&M Neighbor to Neighbor Program lends a hand to Indiana customers who are experiencing financial hardships and need help to get back on their feet. Administered by Dollar Energy Fund, the program provides eligible Indiana customers with a utility assistance grant applied directly to their bill.

Applying for Assistance

You can apply for the Neighbor to Neighbor program at a local community agency.


Visit a community agency Submit an application in person. Community agencies may be able to offer a variety of assistance beyond just help with your electric bill.

Who is Eligible?

Households may be eligible for up to $250 in grants if they:

  • Are Indiana Michigan Power customers in Indiana
  • Have made a sincere effort of payment on their I&M bill and have a past due balance
  • Household income is less than 200% of the federal poverty level guidelines

Interested in donating? Just a few extra dollars a month can help an Indiana neighbor in need. All donations are used to assist limited-income families in Indiana.

Make a monthly donation through your bill

Sign up to donate an amount you choose from each bill. You can:

  • Choose a fixed monthly amount to donate, or
  • Round up your bill to the nearest whole dollar, donating the difference
