Windstorm Update 4 p.m. 8-13

August 13, 2020

Indiana Michigan Power has restored power to all but less than 500 of the approximately 52,000 customers whose service was disrupted by Monday’s derecho.

A large contingent of crews continues to restore power to those who remain without service in rural areas around Benton Harbor. I&M will continue restoration until customers have their power back on. I&M expects all customers will have power restored before midnight tonight.

In less than 72 hours since the derecho swept across I&M’s service territory with winds of up to 66 mph, the company has restored service to more than 51,000 customers.

I&M thanks our customers for their patience as we have worked around the clock to restore power. I&M also thanks the hundreds of utility professionals who traveled to I&M’s service territory to assist in restoring power.
