TRAFFIC IMPACT ADVISORY: U.S. Route 23 delay possible Oct. 12 as crews make needed repairs

October 9, 2014

ASHLAND, Ky. – Kentucky Power will temporarily halt traffic in both directions along U.S. Route 23 in Boyd County at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12. The 15-minute road closure is necessary to allow line crews to safely install new service lines that stretch across the highway.

The work zone is located near Catlettsburg and mile marker 2.6. Workers will make every effort to keep the traffic interruption as brief as possible. In the event of inclement weather, the project will be rescheduled for Sunday, Oct. 19.

Kentucky Power has notified highway officials, law enforcement agencies and local authorities of the road closures and obtained all necessary work-related permits. Professional traffic control personnel will be used to manage traffic and lane closures during the project.

Kentucky Power is an operating unit of American Electric Power and provides electricity to approximately 171,000 customers in all or part of 20 Eastern Kentucky counties.
