Community-Powered ‘Thank You’

August 11, 2025

“Thank you” – a simple phrase with significant meaning, regardless the size of the task. At Indiana Michigan Power (I&M), we believe the work done in our communities can be impactful, but not just for our neighbors. These are the same communities our team lives, works and plays – making these efforts powerful on a deeper level.

When severe weather is forecasted, I&M sends out an email to customers, warning of potential conditions forecasted. Once weather does hit, we make sure customers stay informed through email and social media updates. As we share photos of our crews working in storm-ravaged communities, restoring power as safely and quickly as possible, the customer support and appreciation is abundant – and sometimes personal.

“My 3-year-old son watched you work hard through the window and clapped cheerfully when the lights came back on! In his eyes, you’re heroes – and in ours too. Thank you for everything you do!”

By putting boots on the group, we have a passion for serving organizations and local initiatives in our communities. Our team of volunteers proudly sports their red “Caring Together” shirts to serve meals to those in need, pack backpacks with school supplies and help a local veteran rebuild after a storm.

“Indiana Michigan Power Foundation has been such a consistent source of support in our community! We can’t thank them enough for sponsoring our summer community lunch program so that all our neighbors have a delicious lunch to enjoy.” – Muncie Mission

But it’s not just the communities close to home. Often, a thank you comes from states away by means of social media or colorful thank you

cards. Through streets that are not our own, the red and white “Indiana Michigan Power” logo is proudly visible, providing service to communities looking for hope and restoration of normalcy following catastrophic weather. Whether our sister companies across American Electric Power (AEP) or those facing hurricane devastation further south, we put people first and look to make an impact however possible.

“You All Are HEROS!! Thank You Thank You Thank You! From Port Charlotte Florida!!”

“Thank you, Indiana Michigan Power for restoring power in Gibsonia, PA! You are very much appreciated! We can’t thank you enough!!! It made us so happy to see your trucks on our street!!”

We are grateful for the outpouring of support from neighbors in our local communities – and those miles away.
