Reading is much more than just words on a page. It’s magic, imagination and learning. That’s why Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) is proud to support the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program at the Allen County Public Library.
Susan P. Baier, Allen County Public Library Foundation execuive director and Kelly Renstchler, I&M External Affairs manager.
“In its first year of operation, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library of Allen County has mailed more than 60,000 high-quality, age-appropriate books free of charge to children from birth through age 5,” said Susan P. Baier, Allen County Public Library executive director. “The Allen County Public Library Foundation is tremendously grateful for the generous support of donors such as Indiana Michigan Power to make this program possible for the children of Allen County. More than 8,200 children are either enrolled or have already graduated from the Imagination Library program, and that number grows each day.”
I&M awarded the library a $5,000 grant to support and expand the program. The free books help instill a love for reading, learning and prepare local children to start kindergarten.
“At I&M, we want our communities to remain vibrant and strong. A big part of that is investing in our community’s future,” said Kelly Rentschler, I&M External Affairs manager. “I&M is proud to support the Allen County Public Library and the Imagination Library program to power a love for learning and reading – one book at a time.”
The Imagination Library currently mails 3 million age-appropriate, high-quality books each month to children around the world. For more about ACPL and the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, click here.
