Importance of Safety Shared with the Community

September 22, 2025

Safety plays a major role in our work, but what about for members of the community? While they are not directly working with electrical equipment or restoring power after a storm, they do still have a role to play to keep themselves and others safe. This is why events like the Allen County Safety Fair are valuable to help educate the importance of safety through a hands-on, fun approach.

To support this, I&M participated in the annual event, which was back for its 17th year of promoting safety and wellness within the community. Along for the September 13 opportunity was I&M bucket trucks and gear many could try on and look inside for a greater understanding of what our crews do – and how that work is done safely. Through hands-on learning, attendees could gain a greater understanding of what they would do in an emergency.

“It is crucial for our community to understand the work that our crews do on a daily basis and what equipment helps them to complete their jobs safely,” said Kelly Rentschler, I&M External Affairs manager. “The ability to have interactive opportunities to demonstrate the work our crews do is incredibly beneficial to kids and adults alike.”
