Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) is dedicated to meeting the needs of our communities. From bringing new jobs into the area to supporting businesses expanding operations, our region is experiencing a period of significant growth. But that growth doesn’t happen overnight.
I&M’s Economic and Business Development team takes pride in collaborating with various groups and organizations to promote economic growth in our region. These partnerships and our active community engagement are essential, complemented by I&M’s commitment to providing reliable and affordable service new businesses can rely on for their future success.
From a larger, statewide perspective of this, economic development organizations and utility providers from across Indiana gathered for the annual Indiana Power Partners (IPP) Conference. This year, the conference, hosted in Fort Wayne by NEI, provided attendees the opportunity to connect directly with national site consultants, share Indiana’s narrative and discuss the evolving dynamics of power and infrastructure.
Attending the conference for I&M was Nate Powelson, Economic and Business Development Analyst with AEP. Over the course of the two-day event, participants took part in collaborative sessions with representatives from local, regional and state economic development organizations, along with IPP and site selectors. Barbara Bradley, founder of Vera Bradley, also shared her entrepreneurial journey and insights on the city’s growth and transformation.
“Participating in opportunities like this is crucial for our work, as it brings together like-minded economic development professionals for collaboration that might not happen otherwise,” said Powelson. “We work in a fast-paced landscape experiencing incredible growth, so being able to connect with individuals and groups facing similar conditions offers valuable insight moving forward.”
Formed in 2018, the Indiana Power Partners is a collaborative initiative among the economic development teams from the state’s electric utilities to drive business attraction across Indiana.
