Save with LEDs and Get Instant Rebates
Saving energy at home is easy – as easy as changing a light bulb. LEDs use 90% less energy than traditional light bulbs and last about 22 years. Replacing just one traditional bulb with an LED can save you at least $80 over its lifetime. Since the average home has about 30 light bulbs, the savings are huge!
Pick the Brightness in Lumens
When shopping for light bulbs, look for lumens, not watts. Watts measure how much energy a bulb uses – not the bulb’s brightness. Lumens measure the amount of light. The higher the number, the more light.
For example, a 60-watt incandescent bulb and a 10-watt LED have the same brightness - 800 lumens.
Pick the Color/Appearance in Kelvin
Light color/appearance is measured on a temperature scale known as Kelvin (K). The color temperature is not how hot or cool a bulb feels when it’s on. It’s how the light looks. The lower the Kelvin number, the more warm and yellow the light. The higher the Kelvin number, the cooler and bluer the light.
