FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) plans to invest approximately $292 million to upgrade the electric transmission system to ensure safe and reliable electric service for customers in northeast Indiana.
The Fort Wayne-Richmond Transmission Line Rebuild Project involves updating about 140 miles of 138-kilovolt transmission line and upgrading two substations. I&M plans to rebuild the transmission line in the existing right-of-way, although the company may acquire new easements or supplement current easements to ensure the safe construction, operation and maintenance of the line.
I&M representatives will communicate project updates directly with affected landowners and residents throughout the process.
