I&M Donation of Drone to Raise Excitement for Science Central Summer Camp

March 13, 2024

Students attending summer camp at Science Central in Fort Wayne will have an opportunity to take their learning and experience to “new heights.” With a donation of a former I&M drone, participants will get a new perspective in solving challenges and completing activities.

Staff from both I&M and Science Central made the handoff of the drone official at a presentation March 8. The "SC Coriolis," named by Science Central staff, will be utilized for a weeklong camp this summer.

Presenting the drone at this event was Ashley Savieo, director of Economic and Business Development for AEP and member of the Science Central Board of Directors.

Science Central’s summer camps feature a range of STEM-based subjects for attendees. Camps are slated to begin as early as June 3, with the Spy Flyers (drone camp) option running June 24 – 28. Using a mystery theme, campers ages 5-11 will program and fly the drone to help gather clues, trigger sensors, navigate an obstacle course and complete other tasks as part of their “secret mission.”

We are proud to partner with Science Central in making STEM education accessible to our community. By supporting this access for students in pre-K and beyond, we can help to fuel success now and in the future.
