How would you best describe the work your organizations does?

At Girls on the Run, it is our mission to inspire girls to grow joyful, healthy and confident. We envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential each day. Volunteer coaches help to facilitate lessons that blend physical activity with life skill development to enable team members to adapt to whatever may come their way. At the end of the season, the team completes a 5k together, which provides a tangible sense of accomplishment and sets a confident mindset into motion. Since 2010, we have served more than 6,500 girls in grades 3-8 across five counties in Michiana, with hopes to serve over 1,200 more this year.

How would you describe your organization’s partnership with I&M?

Indiana Michigan Power has sponsored our Girls on the Run 5k event for the past five years. This partnership makes it financially possible for all girls to be able to participate in this transformational program and 5k at its conclusion.

In what ways have you worked with I&M during this partnership?

Last May, over 2,500 community members participated in the Girls on the Run 5k in South Bend with staff from Indiana Michigan Power running and encouraging the girls as they finished the race. I&M has had such an impact on this community, and our organization loves to recognize their efforts and passion at this event and beyond.
