The Power of STEM: Career Day at D.C. Cook Nuclear Plant

May 2, 2023

Did you know many careers at Indiana Michigan Power can start right out of high school? It’s true  - and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Southwest Michigan explored the D.C. Cook Nuclear Plant in Bridgman, Mich. recently to discover the opportunities.

Students participated in a hands-on experience in the control room simulator with D.C. Cook Nuclear Plant operators, dressed safely as if they were going to work in the plant, and watched security officers go through training.

“We are committed to developing our local workforce and providing experiences like this for our communities and students to explore STEM careers,” said Fao Sanni, Nuclear Engineer, Sr.. “We hope this opportunity will inspire the next generation of trade workers, engineers, and technology experts. Hopefully one of these students will join us one day to provide reliable and safe service to their hometown.”

If you know a soon-to-be or recent graduate who is looking for a great career opportunity, have them check out AEP.com/Careers. Their future could be a bright one at I&M.
