I&M was recognized for outstanding contributions to the development of a healthy, dynamic business environment in Indiana, and to the state’s overall economic well-being. I&M has been a member of the IMA since 1958. The Indiana Manufacturers Association is dedicated to advocating for a business climate that creates, protects and promotes quality manufacturing jobs in Indiana.
The annual Hall of Fame event is typically held live in Indianapolis, but the IMA adapted with a virtual event this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Toby Thomas delivered an acceptance speech via video, and I&M was among inductees that provided information and links in a virtual exhibit hall.
“This organization has always stood as a leader in shaping our state and symbolizing what is great about being a Hoosier,” Toby said of the IMA. “At I&M, our legacy for over 100 years of putting our customers first and helping to grow the economy is what makes this award so special. I’m proud to say that the future at I&M is bright. We continue our emphasis on serving our customers through building a home-grown greener and more sustainable future.”
Formed in 1901, the Indiana Manufacturers Association is the second oldest manufacturers association in the country and the only trade association in Indiana that exclusively focuses on manufacturing.
“The goal of the IMA Manufacturers Hall of Fame and Manufacturing Excellence Awards is to celebrate and recognize the positive achievements made by Indiana manufacturing companies, and to honor their contributions in furthering manufacturing in Indiana," said IMA President and CEO Brian Burton. "As the most manufacturing-intensive state in the nation, Indiana employs nearly 20% of the Indiana workforce – more than 545,000 employees. Additionally, Indiana manufacturing continues to be one of the highest paying industry sectors in the state, and accounts for nearly 30% of Indiana’s total GDP.”
