AEP Texas preparing for winter storm

January 1, 2015

AEP Texas is making preparations for the first winter storm of the new year.  Ice accumulation could reach up to three-quarters of an inch in the Abilene area late tonight and winter storm conditions are anticipated in areas of the AEP Texas service territory north of Abilene all the way to Vernon.

AEP Texas is closely monitoring the weather and already has scheduled additional crews from other areas to begin traveling to areas within the AEP Texas service territory anticipated to be most affected by severe weather.

Electric customers should call the AEP Texas Customer Solutions Center (866-223-8508) to report downed power lines, power outages and any unsafe conditions. Customers may want to have a copy of their electric bill on hand, which contains their ESI ID number. This will help expedite service if they are transferred to an automated system.  Customers are reminded to stay clear of any downed power lines and assume they are energized.

Additional safety tips can be found at www.aeptexas.com.
