CITYWIDE OUTAGES SCHEDULED IN AUGUST FOR SOUTH COFFEYVILLE
Work at electrical substation to be done overnight to lessen inconvenience

July 10, 2009

Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) will interrupt the city of South Coffeyville’s electrical service twice next month for up to four hours both times to allow crews to make upgrades to the city’s electrical substation, located in the South Coffeyville Industrial Park. The work being scheduled will improve service for South Coffeyville residents, while supporting load growth at the local Jencast foundry.

The outages are scheduled for Tuesday, August 11, 1 a.m.–5 a.m. and Thursday, August 13, 1 a.m.–5 a.m. During those times, crews will upgrade the size of the conductors (cable) and other equipment at the substation.

"For safety reasons, the work that will be done requires the entire substation be de-energized," said Bryan Henderson, PSO’s customer services account manager in Bartlesville. "We hope to lessen any inconvenience the interruptions may cause to South Coffeyville residents by scheduling the work in the overnight hours, while most people will be asleep. In addition, we hope that by providing advance notification residents of South Coffeyville will have ample time to plan or prepare, if they feel it necessary."

While PSO does not serve individual residential customers in South Coffeyville, it is the wholesale provider of electrical power to the City of South Coffeyville.

PSO, a unit of American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP), is an electric utility company serving approximately 527,000 customers in eastern and southwestern Oklahoma. Based in Tulsa, PSO has 4,405 megawatts of generating capacity, and is the largest provider of wind energy in the state. News releases and other information about PSO can be found on the World Wide Web at www.PSOklahoma.com.
