I&M is Powering the Next Reliability Enhancement Project in St. Joseph County

SOUTH BEND, Ind., May 3, 2022 – Indiana Michigan Power Indiana Michigan Power (I&M), an American Electric Power company, plans to invest approximately $13 million to strengthen the electric transmission network in Mishawaka and St. Joseph County. 

The East Mishawaka Transmission Line Project involves rebuilding about 4 miles of 138-kilovolt (kV) transmission line located between Beech Road and the Twin Branch Substation off Twin Lakes Drive. Plans call for construction to begin in early 2023 and conclude in fall 2023.

The project involves replacing aging lattice towers dating back to the 1920s with modern steel poles. The East Mishawaka Transmission Line Project will enhance electric reliability for customers, reducing the likelihood of prolonged power outages.
