David A. Lucas
Vice President Regulatory and Finance
David Lucas is Vice President Regulatory and Finance of Indiana Michigan Power, an operating company of American Electric Power (AEP) headquartered in Fort Wayne. He was appointed to his current role in May 2014.
Lucas is a nine-year veteran of AEP. He most recently served as Director of Project Controls in the Generation organization. In this role, he was responsible for the financial and project controls aspects of a project portfolio that exceeded $7 billion and consisted of major environmental upgrades across AEP's fossil fleet, as well as the development of over 2,000 MW of new gas and coal fired generation. Lucas has also held the positions of Director-Environmental and Retrofit Projects; Manager-Project Support and Business Operations; and Manager-Financial Analysis & Budgeting.
While performing these roles, Lucas has also been very involved in strategic planning, developing project management training programs, and participating as a functional lead on AEP's Enabling Capital Excellence initiative.
Prior to joining AEP, Lucas worked for more than 12 years in the heavy industrial construction industry, working extensively in the areas of planning, scheduling, project management and financial management. He gained valuable experience during this time leading projects for major companies in the refining, petrochemical, automotive, steel and utility industries.
Lucas has a Bachelor's Degree in Management and a Master of Business Administration from Marshall University. He also completed the AEP Management Development Program at The Ohio State University and the Program for Leadership Development at Harvard Business School. Lucas is a registered Project Management Professional (PMP).
