Vice President Regulatory and Finance

David Lucas is Vice President Regulatory and Finance of Indiana Michigan Power (I&M), an operating company of American Electric Power (AEP) headquartered in Fort Wayne. He is responsible for overseeing the company's regulatory, finance, strategic planning, project controls, and continuous improvement activities.

Lucas joined I&M in 2014 as Vice President of Finance. In 2016, he was named Vice President of Finance and Customer Experience. He was appointed to his current role in 2021.

Prior to joining I&M, Lucas held multiple roles in AEP from 2005 through 2014 primarily working in the areas of project management, budgeting, and project controls. In these roles, he was responsible for the financial and projects controls aspects of a project portfolio that exceeded $7 billion and consisted of major environmental upgrades to AEP's fossil fleet, as well as the development of over 2,000 MW of new gas and coal fired generation.

Prior to joining AEP, Lucas worked for more than 12 years in the heavy industrial construction industry, working extensively in the areas of planning, scheduling, project management and financial management. He participated in projects for major companies in the refining, petrochemical, automotive, steel, and utility industries.

Lucas has a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management and a Master of Business Administration Degree from Marshall University. He also completed the AEP Management Development Program and The Ohio State University and the Program for Leadership Development at Harvard Business School. Lucas is a registered Project Management Professional (PMP).

Lucas is also passionate about engaging in the community. He has served on the board of local organizations including Greater Fort Wayne, Inc. and the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne. He has also been a longtime coach for youth basketball programs.
