WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

I&M crews worked throughout the night across our service territory and over 70% of customers impacted by Thursday’s storms are now restored.
Most customers have been restored in all areas of I&M’s service territory, except for Three Rivers (6PM today) and Elkhart (11PM tonight). These times indicate when most customers are expected to have power restored, though many will be back on earlier. We encourage customers to sign up for text alerts and receive real time updates.

We know some customers have been without power for an extended period of time, and we apologize for the length of this outage. We understand how difficult it is to wait, and we want you to know that every outage is important to us and will be restored as quickly and safely as possible.
The majority of outages continue to be concentrated in Elkhart and South Bend where damage from fallen trees requires additional time to address.
1,200 restoration experts are working to restore power and additional assistance crews from outside utilities are joining the restoration effort this morning.

SITUATION:

As of 8:00 a.m. approximately 16,500 customers are still without power.

Our crews will continue working today to restore power to those who are able to receive it at their homes and businesses. Please see below for more information and how to assess if your location is able to safely receive power.

Approximately 1,200 restoration experts are performing repairs and assessments across our service area with more crews arriving today.

As a reminder, do not attempt to clear any hazards or debris touching electrical equipment and stay away from downed power lines and anything they may be touching. Report hazards to I&M at 1-800-311-4634 or to local police.

CAN YOU RECEIVE POWER?

Now’s the time to check whether your home can safely receive power. If your service entrance (the part you own) is damaged, I&M can’t reconnect power until a licensed electrician makes repairs. You can learn more about homeowner and I&M responsibilities here. 

If crews see damage that prevents I&M from restoring power to specific homes or businesses, we will call customers directly or leave a door hanger.
