Tim Kerns is Vice President, Generating Assets, I&M and Kentucky Power, operating companies of American Electric Power (AEP). Kerns oversees all aspects of the I&M and Kentucky Power regulated generating facility operations, maintenance, continuous improvement and safety culture.

Kerns joined AEP in 1989 as a performance engineer at the Philip Sporn Plant. Since then, he has held various leadership positions within the Generation organizations including the Regional Services Organization, Outage Management and Plant Engineering.

Kerns also served as plant manager at the Lawrenceburg, Tanners Creek and Rockport plants and, most recently, Managing Director – Generating Asset I&M.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from West Virginia Institute of Technology.
