FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) plans an approximate $7 million investment to upgrade the electric transmission network serving customers in Adams County in northeastern Indiana.
The Decatur Area Transmission Line Rebuild Project involves rebuilding about 2 miles of 69-kilovolt transmission line between the Decatur Substation, located near the intersection of Short Street and North 7th Street, to the South Decatur Substation located on U.S. 33.
I&M plans to rebuild the power line primarily in its existing right-of-way. Company representatives plan to talk with individual property owners about what to expect before, during and after construction.
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the social distancing recommendations made by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), I&M and its contractors are limiting in-person visits with property owners during this process to ensure the safety and health of the public and company representatives.
