I&M Announces Proposed Route for Monroe Area Transmission Line Project

February 28, 2020

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) representatives today announced the proposed route for an electric transmission line in eastern Indiana as part of the Monroe Area Transmission Line Rebuild Project.

Company representatives determined the route after reviewing input from landowners and community members following I&M’s project announcement and public open house last November.

The estimated $22 million investment in Adams County involves rebuilding about 10.5 miles of 69-kilovolt transmission line. I&M representatives plan to replace wooden poles with single steel poles.

The improvements are designed to help ensure electric reliability for customers and support the area’s economic growth.

O.R. Colan, I&M’s right-of-way representative for this project, plans to communicate with directly involved landowners to discuss preliminary field work and property easements to ensure the safe construction, operation and maintenance of the new power line. Construction is scheduled to begin at the end of 2020 and conclude in early 2022.
