AEP Texas crews continued on Wednesday to reduce the number of outages resulting from storms that began early Tuesday morning and are expected to continue over the next few days. As of 4 p.m. on Wednesday, the number of consumers within the southern portions of the AEP Texas service territory totaled approximately 2,000, as compared to 41,000 early Monday morning.
While progress has been significant in most of areas impacted by the storms, restoration of electric service to consumers in some parts of the Falfurrias area could extend to Friday night due to the large amount of high water making it difficult for crews to gain access to make needed repairs. Just over 730 consumers were without power in the Falfurrias area as of 4 p.m. Wednesday. AEP Texas representatives are working with local officials and local media to ensure they are kept informed regarding the situation and efforts to restore power.
As of 4 p.m., the highest concentration of outages included:
Corpus Christi District – 500 total outages
Corpus Christi south side area – 200 outages (Estimated restoration: late Wednesday evening)
Corpus Christi midtown area – 180 outages (Estimated restoration: late Wednesday evening)
Laredo District – 1,300 total outages
Falfurrias – 730 outages (Estimated restoration: Friday evening)
Pleasanton – 440 outages (Estimated restoration: Wednesday evening)
Rio Grande Valley District – 220 total outages
Weslaco – 100 outages (Estimated restoration: late Wednesday evening)
Edinburg – 90 outages (Estimated Restoration: late Wednesday evening)
