ASHLAND, Ky., – Kentucky Power plans to halt traffic in both directions along U.S. Route 23 at 35th Street in Ashland Tuesday night to allow crews to replace a broken fiber cable.
The work zone is near the old Shoney’s restaurant. The highway will be closed for 15 to 30 minutes beginning at 9:30 p.m. Workers will make every effort to keep the traffic interruption to a minimum.
Kentucky Power has notified highway officials, law enforcement agencies and local authorities of the road closures, and has obtained all necessary work-related permits. Professional traffic control personnel will be used to manage traffic and lane closures during the project.
Kentucky Power is an operating unit of American Electric Power and provides electricity to approximately 172,000 customers in all or part of 20 Eastern Kentucky counties.
